The cover is officially dead

I tried to wash some of the scorched area, running the cover through a gentle cycle, but it came out like this. Everything about this cover is a lie! You can’t iron on it, or wash it according to their instructions. I’ve been picking little pieces of batting up for days.

It looks like this outside.

And it was very cold and windy before it began to rain.

So I am doing a bit of crochet under the quilt and watching a movie. A good Friday I’d say.

So, what dingleberry thought it would be a good idea to make a very chic ironing board cover and not use heat safe fabric? Well I guess I know why it was on clearance now.

Helen’s baby quilt

First finished quilt with the new machine! This is a simple 36″X36″ baby quilt for a coworker’s shower.

And heres the back. The front was just one yard of printed squares fabric with woodland creatures, and the back was fabric from my stash. For the quilting I went with squiggly stippling, and I think I did an ok job for my first time. I hated it at first, but its not bad from afar, and any mistakes became unnoticeable after washing.

For the back I also cut out one of the little squares with a bear and added a simple blue border.

For the binding I did a wide rounded corner, and I have to say, not only is it amazing looking, but it was SO MUCH EASIER than corners. I don’t think I will do a mitered corner ever again on a quilt. All in all the quilt took about two hours from fabric to washing machine. Pretty good time I would say. Helen loved it, and I was quite proud of the oohs and aahs at the shower, and even had a couple women ask if I do commissions. I of course do what I always do, and say yes and try to never bring it up again.

I was going to take a picture of it after the set up. Pristine and new. I forgot though, and started sewing.
