30 minute quilt top

I found this tutorial on the Ravelry Quilting group. The concept is really interesting: sew all the strips together in a jelly roll end to end, fold in half and sew along the long edge, cut the end open. Repeat the folding, sewing, and cutting steps until you have a quilt top.

The samples show using full strips, but I thought it would be more visually interesting to use different length pieces. I had a good 1/3 of the jelly roll left from my neptune quilt that has been waiting to be made into something. I had three or four full 42″ strips, but the rest were all different sizes, and I think it made it way better looking.

After looking at it, I decided to play with it some more. I did two more folds, then two folds going the opposite direction. Love it.

Somewhat self portrait

I bought myself a wacom bamboo fun tablet for myself for Christmas. I was attempting to draw using photoshop and getting really frustrated. I finally installed corel painter that was included, and its much easier to use. It feels a lot more like sketching.

This is a quick sketch I did just to get used to the different brushes and get used to drawing in layers again. Other than the hair being red, it doesn’t quite look like me, but I’m happy with it.

Buttercup body done

Well it took forever, but the body is finally done. My knitting time has been severely limited as of late, so I decided to enjoy the time I had and worked on this while watching the entire series Twin Peaks.

The fit is great, and it should be. I did try it on about 50 times while working on it. Now onto the sleeves. Hopefully they wont take as long since they will be 3/4.

This is how high the snow got on our windows. This is a second story window with an awning right below, but still impressive!
